NLDS Game 3: Cardinals at Pirates

Blackout in the beer fort as we prepare for today's game. Plenty of stout on hand, too.

Kelly and Liriano at four.

Biggest game in 21 years. Our magnificent beer fort appears prepared with full blackout. Would be more entertained with Ogden Nutting throwing out first pitch than McClatchy, but whatever.

There will be many ramparts to climb and volley from in the Beer Fort today.

Time for the Island of Dr. Morneau to launch a volley over the fence.

Although current Steelers would not at all be up to the task, fans must block and tackle other fans if necessary to prevent aid of the enemy.

Both Petey and Martin have taken Poindexter deep, expecting more of the same today.

  5. Derek Bell takes over Washington, D.C., Gary Sheffield appears on TBS pregame panel...Poindexter should be very worried. Kozma trying to upstage Descalso! The nerve....

At end of pregame, Bucs were unanimous pick by Sheffield, Pedro Martinez, Verducci, Keith O., and basement nerdy guy.

Both Petey and Martin have struck out against Poindexter before, expecting more of the same today.

  22. Poindexter seems a bit peeved. Was the CMU library closed this morning? Pardon us while Marlon Byrd delivers the goods on both sides of the ball.

    Got the bunt down.

Bucs bunting circles around Cards, victory imminent.

Voices outside the Beer Fort heard saying, "The BYRD man is coming, the BYRD man is coming!"

One of the most exciting plays in professional sports right there.

I don't understand that pinch hitting selection of Tabata at all, he hasn't hit in a great while. Heck just leave Barmes in.

    Leyland continues to annoy me.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Bones6:42 PM

Highly entertained by sac fly and decision to PH Hasabata for Barmes up 1 in the 6th.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Bones6:46 PM

Tabata finished year strong. You'd rather go with BarmOUT?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Bones6:48 PM

    Mercer makes the play, Barmes-style.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Rowdy6:48 PM

Cardinals first base coach is something of a toucher. He's all over that guy on first.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Travis6:50 PM

I'd go with Hasabata in a heartbeat had he had some ABs semi recently instead of Hasn'tbata.

Then again I always start Mercer at SS to continue my belly aching and whining and complaining.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Travis6:53 PM

To finish, if Leyland thinks BarmOUTs is better defensively than Mercer, then why put Mercer in the game with a lead?

Although I feel Mercer is better defensively anyway let alone offensively.

This type of logic befuddles me.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Bones6:56 PM

But Barmes was up with guys on first and second in a playoff game, you have to let a better hitter hit, so Mercer comes in later, although worse at fielding, the best guy left.

The Cards don't look they shower well, or at all.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Travis7:00 PM

Zagurski 2.0 has too much surface area to shower efficiently.
